Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine Helps MJHS Health System Debut New Downtown Headquarters

With the cut of a ribbon, MJHS Health System today was joined by Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine at the official opening of the not-for-profit’s new corporate headquarters at 55 Water Street in Lower Manhattan, just fifteen months after completing the largest real estate transaction of its kind since the pandemic. Representatives from the offices of Assemblymember Charles Fell and New York City Office of the Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services also attended the long-anticipated unveiling and tour of the light-filled 138,000 square foot office.

“Moving our headquarters to Manhattan marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the storied history of our not-for-profit organization that has provided quality care for at-risk New Yorkers with compassion, dignity, and respect since 1907,” said David Wagner, president and CEO of MJHS health system, He added, “After conducting an extensive search for the right space and location, I am pleased that our vision for an inviting, innovative headquarters was conceptualized, designed, and completed on time and in a fiscally responsible way.”

The prime location in Lower Manhattan is the new workplace for 1000 onsite employees and home base for an additional 700 members of the staff working remotely. Consistent with the organization’s roots, MJHS is keeping a presence in Brooklyn.

“For generations, MJHS Health System has been providing high-quality health care to New Yorkers, and I’m thrilled to welcome their new headquarters to Manhattan,” said Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine. “I applaud MJHS’ legacy of providing compassionate care. Their move is a welcome sign in the further recovery of the overall business and health care sectors.”

CBRE, MKDA, Gardiner, & Theobald, Benchmark Builders as well as Waldner’s Business Environments were the firms involved in the monumental effort.
